Week Seven: Ask...in Faith

Week Seven: Ask...in Faith

Read Moroni 7:26

The Journey:

In this verse, there are some very important characteristics of prayer that are outlined. Take the opportunity to study this verse in detail. Look up 'prayer' in the Bible Dictionary. Make note of the information you are able to learn and let this knowledge help to enrich your personal prayers and make them more meaningful. Perhaps, choose one step that you would like to focus on.

As you pray this week, thank your Heavenly Father for His Son, Jesus Christ. Share with Him the reasons why you are grateful for the Savior. Let Him know what your knowledge of Christ means to you.

Week Six: Hope Through the Master

Week Six: Hope Through the Master

Read the account of the blind man found in John 9: 1-38

The Journey:
At times we may find ourselves in moments of darkness. The Lord has offered Himself as a source of hope and light to help us find our way! This week, attempt to analyze through different eyes a situation that perhaps has been troubling you. Then, take a moment to pray that the Savior might touch your eyes so that you will see what you need to do differently to find hope, and feel His light.

Now take some time to write down some of the good things that have brought you hope and have come to you through Christ. How does recognizing these blessings bring you additional feelings of hope and peace?

Week Five: He Knows Us

Week Five: He Knows Us..

Read the account of the Samaritan woman in John 4:1-42

The Journey:
Prepare yourself to receive a moment of insight or learning this week. A treasure of knowledge or understanding prepared just for you. The Lord knows us individually, and desires for us to constantly be searching after learning. Let your search indeed be constant. Try to discover, "in ever hour" some heavenly blessing that will bring you closer to Christ so that we may know and recognize His hand in our life.

Week Four: Reach, and Allow Thy Faith to Make Thee Whole

Week Four: Reach, and Allow Thy Faith to Make Thee Whole

Read the account of Jairus in Matthew 9:18-26

The Journey:
Think back on a time in your life that may have been particularly trying; a time when you had to reach for the Savior to find strength beyond your own. Try to remember the process you used as you put your hand out to the Lord. Did you turn to scripture study, more meaningful prayers, or perhaps a period of gratitude and reflection?

Decide this week to reach out to the Savior again. Exercise your faith in Him, and reach to pull Him closer so that you might find a greater outpouring of joy, peace and blessings. Apply one of the principles that has brought you comfort before or seek to employ a new one. Allow your faith to create this bridge to allow the small personal miracles to happen in your own life.

Week Three: A Record of Righteousness

Week Three: A Record of Righteousness

Read 2 Nephi 25:21-26

The Journey:
Do you have a written copy of your testimony of Christ? Find a moment of quiet and reflection and record your testimony this week. You might want to include your belief in Him, your gratitude for Him, or an experience that has helped to strengthen your testimony of Him.

Obtain and keep a journal of your journey, recording the treasures and discoveries that come to you as you follow this path. These thoughts and reflections will create a record for you, and those who may come after you. This journal will serve as your own record of your path towards hopefully growing closer to the Master.

Week Two: "Write His Name Upon Your Heart"

Week Two: "Write His Name Upon Your Heart"

Read the account of the Last Supper in John 13: 4-15

The Journey:

As you go through this week ponder the meaning and power promised in our covenants. Think about what it truly means to take Christ's name upon us. Personalize ways we can stand as a witness of him "at all times, and in all things, and in all places".
During this week (and as we go forth) strive to remember Him ALWAYS.

Our journey will introduce to us many different names of the Savior. Each week's goal should contain one name that relates to a scripture story or gospel principle. Take a moment each week to reflect on how each name describes a way that he blesses your life. Perhaps record these thoughts in a journal, or make a list.

Week One: Come to Know Jesus Christ

Week One: Come to Know Jesus Christ

Read the account of the fisherman in Mark 1:16-18 and in John 1:38-39

The Journey:

Take some time to think about what fills your nets, and what you must cast aside to pursue a relationship with Christ. Are everyday challenges such as time constraints, demands from work or home, or feelings of inadequacy or fear holding you back from developing a personal relationship with the Savior?

Try this week to listen for the quiet promptings from the Lord to come and see.

Twenty-one Weeks Nearer to Christ

With life's everyday challenges, it is easy to become discouraged and disillusioned with life. Personally, I've struggled each day to maintain a positive attitude and have hope that tomorrow will be better.
I recently attended a Relief Society meeting where Emily Freeman outlined a plan of 21 days to come closer to Christ. I was inspired and impressed that this could make a positive difference in my life.
Because I believe we learn most from each other and our life's experiences, I have invited each of you, women who have been my examples and my inspiration to share these 21 weeks with me by taking President Thomas Monson's words to heart. "By learning of Him, by believing in Him, by following Him, there is the capacity to become like Him. The countenance can change; the heart can be softened; the step can be quickened; the outlook enhanced. Life becomes what it should become."
We'll follow Emily Freeman's Twenty-one steps to become Nearer to Christ, by reading the scriptures and performing the activity suggested in each week's post. Each woman can record their thoughts in a weekly blog post. Together we can learn from each other and become Women of Christ.
